Employment: Argonne National Laboratory
|
Julie earned a master’s degree in 1999 in physical chemistry at the University of Chicago, where she received several fellowships and awards for research and teaching. In 2002, she earned a doctorate in physical chemistry and joined the Department of National Security and Nonproliferation in the Nuclear Engineering Division of Argonne National Laboratory, where she was chosen for a fellowship from more than 150 applicants. She has used her training to battle the spread of weapons of mass destruction by writing a book used as a reference on chemicals subject to export controls because they could be used for weapons.

She is a volunteer at her church and a local animal shelter, and has been involved with the Museum of Science and Industry, National Science Olympiad, and Calvert House, the Catholic Student Center at the University of Chicago. |
