During the fall 2007 semester, students in a Carroll College business class – Event Planning 2008 Super Bowl – have been learning what it takes to run a large scale event such as the Super Bowl. The class has developed communication, time management and team working skills through various projects. Some of these projects included working at a Carroll College football game, performing an economic impact study analysis, and developing a promotional brochure and a publicity campaign.
The primary objective of this class was to send nine students to intern with the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee in January and February 2008. Throughout the fall semester, students have been in contact with Bob Sullivan, a 1980 Carroll graduate and president of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, and his staff through satellite conference calls.
This opportunity for Carroll College students is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Carroll College is one of only two colleges in the nation that will send students to work at the Super Bowl.
