Entry-Level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
Non-Traditional Application Requirements


An individual who has completed an undergraduate (and graduate degrees) can apply for admission to the professional phase of the program.

Selection decisions will be based on evaluation of the following:

  1. The Application for Admission to the Entry-Level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, Division of Natural and Health Sciences which includes:
    1. Clinical Experience Documentation Form
    2. Three letters of reference: one from a physical therapist, one from a college professor, and one that attests to the student's character
    3. One essay question
    4. Course Work in Progress Form
    5. Participation in college or community service activities
    6. The Safety and Technical Standards Form
  2. College cumulative grade point average. A 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale in undergraduate course work is required to make application to the program.
  3. College professional grade point average. A 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale in undergraduate course work in the natural, behavioral, and social sciences is required to make application to the program.
  4. A college transcript which includes the B.S. or B.A. degree. In addition, the following college courses must be completed prior to beginning the professional phase of the program:
    1. 4 semesters of biology including one semester of advanced human anatomy (HSC402) and one semester of advanced human physiology (HSC403). Applicants from outside of Carroll University may be required to enroll in these courses in the summer prior to beginning the professional phase of the program.
    2. 2 semesters of physics equivalent to Physics 101, 102
    3. 2 semesters of chemistry equivalent Chemistry 109, 110 or Chemistry 101, 102
    4. 3 semesters of humanities from areas such as: English, history, philosophy, religious
      studies, women’s studies, and fine arts.
    5. 3 semesters of social sciences from areas such as: psychology, sociology, anthropology
      politics, cultural geography, economics and communication.
    6. 1 semester of statistics equivalent to Math 112 or Psychology 205
    7. 1 semester of English composition or advanced course in English
  5. GRE scores – General Test. The college’s institution code is 1101, no department code is needed.

The university uses a rolling admission process whereby applications are reviewed as they are completed. Applications are accepted until the class is full or until June 15, 2009. Carroll students should complete their application by February 2, 2009 at the latest. Early application is encouraged.
