Students following the technical theatre track at Carroll are afforded many production design and other leadership opportunities. Depending on experience and skill level, technical theatre students might have the opportunity to design scenery, costumes, lighting or sound for any student-directed or program-sponsored production. In a typical sequence, a student would:
- Complete these courses: THE 105, 106, 107, 280 and 305.
- Design an element (i.e., scenery or costumes) for a student-directed play.
- Design, with a mentor, a studio production.
- Design, with a mentor, a mainstage production.
Typically, the design of a mainstage production would be a capstone experience. Interim projects could include serving as an assistant to the designer for mainstage or studio production.
