Teja Arboleda, M.Ed.
Teja Arboleda, M.Ed., is the owner and creative director of Entertaining Diversity, Inc., which provides digital media production, training and consulting. As a producer/director, Teja has spent 21 years creating commercial and educational programs for television and distribution, including PBS, ABC, Discovery and Inc. 500 corporations around the U.S. He is a proud member of the Cathy Savage Fitness team as photographer and producer.
From 1987-1994, he was AD/editor for “Frontline,” “Say Brother” (Emmy Award, 1993) and “La Plaza” at WGBH-TV (PBS) in Boston, Mass., and was culture and diversity issues producer for “Chronicle,” (ABC). In 2000, he created, produced, directed, wrote and starred in the six-part, first through fourth grade educational video series, “Diversity Elementary,” which aired on PBS in early 2001 and is distributed by Discovery. As a fitness/figure and portrait photographer, Teja's work is in the portfolio of America's top fitness and figure athletes, and can be seen in major magazines such as “Oxygen.”
In addition, as a cross-culture and diversity issues expert, Arboleda has been keynote speaker and performance-lecturer for close to 600 educational institutions, companies and civic groups in 48 states. Recognition of the importance of Arboleda's vision include appearances before the Senate Committee on Racial Classification, where he testified for changes in federal racial and ethnic categories, and numerous news stories in the media including the “New York Times,” Associated Press and National Public Radio.
Although Arboleda was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Germany for two years and grew up in Japan. His father is Filipino-Chinese and African-American/Native-American, and his mother is German-Danish. He is the author of “In The Shadow of Race,” (Mahwah, New Jersey: Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, Inc., 1998) an account of his personal experiences as a multicultural, multiethnic and multiracial American.
Arboleda is an assistant professor in the Digital Media and Communications Department at The New England Institute of Art in Brookline, Mass. He has a bachelor’s degree in communications, and a master of education degree with a digital media concentration. |
